Y Series - Y3

Unlike other IDT cameras, the Y3 models capitalize on the strengths of various sensors for balanced performance at higher speeds. The classic Y3, equipped with the able Sirius sensor, records with a native resolution 1280x1024 pixels at 1000 frames per second. For the alternate models, IDT took its advanced Polaris II sensor and upgrades the resolution in the firmware to match the 1280x1024 resolution, but with the added benefit of the Polaris' improved quantum efficiency (resulting in a greater reactivity to light, thus increased sensitivity) and speed, effectively doubling the ISO rating—3000 ISO mono/1000 ISO color in the Y3 classic versus 6000 ISO/2000 ISO in the Y3-S1 and Y3-S2—and sextupling the frame rate!

Choosing from among the attractive alternatives requires an understanding of one's needs, and if unsure, end users can best learn by contacting IDT or their local distributor. In general, however, Y3 models perform well for those whose needs encompass both detail and speed, such as product testing—either large scale items such as automobiles, or smaller components, such as engines—and the Y3-S1 and Y3-S2 prove especially versatile with their superior light acquisition providing what is currently the brightest image available on an IDT camera at the highest resolution. Given the focus on balance and the relatively low price point among Y-Series cameras, these models also offer a unique opportunity for entrepreneurs of all fields to integrate state-of-the-art imaging techniques into their repertoire.
